Nickel Strip Cutting Machine

Nickel strip cutting machine is widely used in cylindrical tricycle scooter electric tools lithium‑ion battery PACK and energy‑storage battery pack manufacturing. It cuts coiled nickel strip, nickel‑plated steel strip and nickel‑copper composite strip into required‑size nickel tabs. It is also compatible with copper strip and aluminum strip. Key performance requirements include low burr on cutting edge and high dimensional accuracy, to prevent metal burrs from piercing cell separators.

Important note: Nickel material features high toughness. Ordinary blades easily chip and produce heavy burrs. High‑speed‑steel or cemented‑carbide blades are mandatory. Blade clearance adjustment is critical. Excessive burrs may cause battery short‑circuit risk.

Selection Guidelines for Energy‑storage & PACK Production Line

1.    Material thickness: For strips thicker than 0.25 mm, select high‑shear‑force model; avoid foil wrinkling for ultra‑thin nickel foil.

2.    Burr control: For energy‑storage battery modules, burr height shall be less than 20 μm to avoid safety hazard; cemented‑carbide blades are preferred.

3.    Pre‑punched nickel strip: Machine with optical fiber sensor is required to eliminate accumulated position error.

4.    Small‑batch sampling: Desktop CNC unit is sufficient. For mass production, adopt automatic decoiler plus tension control to prevent material offset.

Common Troubleshooting

1.    Heavy burr on cutting edge: Dull blade, excessive blade clearance, improper blade material. Readjust clearance or replace cemented‑carbide blade.

2.    Unstable cutting length: Feeding roller slip or unstable material tension. Enable optical positioning for pre‑punched strips.

3.    Bent & deformed nickel tabs: Excessive pressure of feeding roller. Reduce roller pressure.
